Short History: In the spring of 2013, I decided to pay a visit to my younger brother, Jake, who lived in Odessa Texas with his new wife and baby. I even brought Kylee along. She was six, and had never traveled by airplane. Who knew it would be such a disaster. After landing in the heart of San Antonio, I was suddenly glad I brought my carry conceal. But finding it in the checked luggage proved to be much more difficult than I could ever imagine.

People were going insane. After joking about the zombie apocalypse, could this really be real? I didn't hesitate to grab the closest blunt object I could find to beat down a brain-dead walker when he lunged at Kylee.

In a world where almost nobody had ever heard of zombies, it was difficult to convince others around me that this was real. I have no way of calling my family. My fiance. My friends.

After all that preparation, I'm alone in Texas with a six-year-old. Not really ideal, I'll say that.
